Sikh marriage, known as "Anand Karaj," is a sacred and spiritual union that follows the teachings of Sikhism. This ceremony emphasizes equality, mutual respect, and devotion to God, as laid out in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhs.

The Anand Karaj ceremony typically takes place in a Gurdwara, the Sikh place of worship. The main ritual involves the couple circumambulating the Guru Granth Sahib four times, known as "Laavaan." Each round signifies a different aspect of married life and spiritual growth. Hymns (Shabads) are sung during these rounds, highlighting the couple's dedication to God and each other.

Prior to the Anand Karaj, pre-wedding rituals include the "Kurmai" (engagement), which involves exchanging rings and gifts between families. On the wedding day, the groom arrives at the Gurdwara with a procession called "Baraat," where he is welcomed by the bride's family.

During the ceremony, the "Ardas" (prayer) is performed, seeking blessings for the couple's new life. The bride and groom take their vows before the Guru Granth Sahib, committing to a life of love, fidelity, and devotion. The ceremony concludes with the "Anand Sahib" hymn and a final prayer, after which the couple is considered married.
